  • WHAT IS CERAMIC COATING?

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer applied to the exterior surfaces of vehicles, such as cars, motorcycles, or boats, to provide a protective layer. Made from silica or quartz, the coating bonds with the paint to create a hydrophobic (water-repellent) surface.
Here’s how it works and why it’s popular:
    1. Protection: The ceramic coating acts as a barrier against environmental contaminants like dirt, bird droppings, tree sap, and road salts. It also helps protect against UV rays, preventing the paint from fading over time.
    2. Hydrophobic Effect: One of the key features is its ability to repel water, which makes washing easier. Water beads up and rolls off the surface, taking dirt and grime with it, reducing the need for frequent washing.
    3. Scratch Resistance: While not fully scratch-proof, ceramic coatings provide a layer of protection that can resist minor scratches and swirl marks.
    4. Enhanced Appearance: The coating enhances the paint's depth and gloss, making the vehicle look shiny and well-maintained.
    5. Durability: Properly applied, ceramic coatings can last for several months or even years, depending on the type and the level of maintenance.
Overall, ceramic coatings provide long-lasting protection, making vehicles easier to clean and maintain, while keeping the paint in top condition.
  • WHAT IS PAINT CORRECTION?

Paint correction is the process of repairing and improving the appearance of a vehicle's paint by removing imperfections like scratches, swirl marks, oxidation, water spots, and other surface defects. This is typically done through a multi-step procedure using specialized tools and compounds to restore the paint to a smooth, glossy finish.
Levels of Correction: Paint correction is usually classified into different stages based on the severity of the imperfections:
    • One-step correction: A single polishing step that removes lighter imperfections and improves the appearance.
    • Two-step or three-step correction: Involves both a cutting stage to address deeper imperfections and a finishing stage for a smooth, glossy result.
    Benefits of Paint Correction:
    • Restores Appearance: It enhances the vehicle's overall shine, smoothness, and depth, making it look almost like new.
    • Prepares for Protection: After paint correction, the surface is often primed for additional protection, such as waxing or ceramic coating, to maintain the improved finish.
    • Increases Resale Value: A well-corrected and well-maintained paint job can increase the resale value of a car.
Overall, paint correction is an advanced detailing process that can dramatically improve the aesthetic quality of a vehicle’s paint, but it requires skill, patience, and the right equipment.
  • DO I NEED BOTH?

Unless your car is brand new right off the lot, you will require a 1, 2, or 3 step paint correction before applying a ceramic coating depending on how bad the condition of the paint is on your vehicle.
Most vehicles will only require a step 1 correction and would be enough to apply the ceramic coating. The key to remember is the more scratches, swirls, waterspots, etc. are on your paint the more steps will be required to correct that paint so its in a perfect conditon to apply the ceramic coating and protect your vehicle for the next 5-7 years!
